Belmont Estate

A place of rich history and culture...

We visited the Belmont Estate and had a wonderful buffet-style Caribbean meal in an open-air veranda with drinks and live music. I  enjoyed the music a lot because it was popular and well-known songs that were being performed, but they had a Caribbean twist to them. The food was absolutely phenomenal. I had fish, chicken, pumpkin soup, and a particularly delicious chocolate drink. After we finished our meals, the staff demonstrated to us how to prepare cocoa tea. They added in cinnamon and other spices to make it even more delicious. Normally it would be called hot chocolate here in America, but I enjoyed the cocoa tea rendition much more. It had a more bitter taste than the sweet hot chocolate we are used to. As a lover of dark chocolate, I appreciated this.

After we finished eating, I had a look through the museum where old relics from the plantation's past were stored. There were many interesting items to be found there, and I especially enjoyed looking more into the history of Belmont. I proceeded on to the store afterwards to purchase some of the delicious cocoa balls needed to make the cocoa tea since I knew I'd be craving it back home!
